Ixchel is an okay school for young people who want to party and drink with the staff. If you are serious about learning Spanish and expect professional service, you will be disappointed.

I had a wonderful time at Ixchel. The staff is friendly and provides students with many varied opportunities for learning. I've just studied 5 weeks at this school and had a great time!!I had an excellent teacher and I quickly improved my spanish because I didn't speak any spanish before.the area is very nice and all people are very friendly and helpfully!!!I can really recomend this school to everybody!I stayed in a very nice family,amazing meals and I felt very comfortable all the time!thanks to everybody who made my stay unforgettable!!!

It was a great time with nice and verry good teachers and a lot of fun and many activities. I would stay longer, if i don´t have to travel to the next country.

I really enjoyed my experience at Ixchel Spanish School. The school offers a great program that includes specialized Spanish courses for specific interests such as Medical. I was impressed with the level of variety offered. I thoroughly enjoyed my four weeks lessons with my teacher, she had a great personality and she helped me to improve my Spanish enormously. My teacher was extrenely patient with me and was very attentive in answering every question i had. My homestay family was fantastic as well. Only healthy food was served, the family taught me a lot about Guatemalan life in Antigua. I was thoroughly pleased with my Ixchel experience. Ashley Smith USA

Ixchel has been great to work with. My teacher is great and creates lessons for my needs. The school also organizes many activities for the students. The transportation option from the airport was very helpful.

I love my family homestay. Mama is so nice!! Everybody at school is really nice and the teachers are so experienced and they know your weakness in spanish within couple of hours of conversation and they encourage you to speak more and make you feel really comfortable to use the language. However, the cost of the activities at school is high compare to the travel agencies in town~ but everything besides that is great.

Hallo Travellers! Bevor ich meine Sprachschule begonnen habe konnte ich nur ein paar Brocken Spanisch sprechen und ganze Sätze formulieren war für mich fast nicht möglich. Nach 2 Wochen Spanischkurs in der Ixchel School bin ich nun in der Lage mit den Leuten auf der Strasse zu kommunizieren und ich bin für die weitere Reise in Lateinamerika (2 Monate) gut vorbereitet. Mein Hauptziel war, dass ich nicht als Gringo wahrgenommen werde und mich mit den sehr netten Leute auf der Strasse unterhalten kann. Antigua ist eine sehr schöne Kleinstadt mit extrem vielen schönen Plätzen in denen man ein kühles Gabro oder Gallo (Biere) trinken kann. Ich werde bestimmt wieder zurückkommen. Die Familie hat uns in all unseren Fragen unterstützt und war sehr freundlich. Wir hatten sehr lustige und hilfreiche Unterhaltungen, die meinen Lernprozess unterstützt haben. Die Schule und vorallem die Lehrer sind sehr freundlich, mein Lehrer war wie ein Amigo für mich. Es gibt jeden Tag Aktivitäten von Tanzkursen bis zu Vulkanbesteigungen, bei denen man bis zu wenigen Metern an fliessende Lava herankommen konnte. Ich werde die schöne und lehrreiche Zeit in Antigua und der Ixchel School in bester Erinnerung behalten und kann jedem der länger in Guatemala oder Lateinamerika unterwegs ist, diese Lokation als ersten Stop empfehlen. My whole family (myself, my wife, my two daughters, ages 9 and 11) spent three and a half weeks at Ixchel Spanish School. It was a terrific experience and I recommend this school highly to anyone interested in quality spanish education. The teachers were very personable and professional. It was especially important to us to give our daughters a comfortable learnin environment and we were really satisfied with how the teachers supported them and taught in a fun and informative manner that they just loved.

I had a lot of fun studying at ixchel. Teachers are great. Ask for a soccer game against the locals.

I had a great time at ixchel. My teachers Stephny and Mariella were the best I have had. Lots of oral work, they made boring grammar interesting! I stayed with Ana and Diego who helped me practice my Spanish further and Ana's cooking was delicious. Best school I have been too (was my 4th).

My wife and I took 5 days of 4 hour per day lessons. The teachers were very competent, friendly and accommodating. We recommend the school highly.

I spent two weeks here, working at an advanced level in Spanish. I've attended a lot of Spanish schools over the last six years, and Ixchel is among the best. I can only think of two other schools that were as good. My teacher was highly experienced, and was flexible enough to accommodate my desire to emphasize speaking and listening. I really liked the fact that I could stay at a room at the school instead of doing a home stay. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food was good. Every weekend, the school arranges tours so students can get to know Guatemala better. I'd highly recommend Ixchel!
