I like the fact that the classes are located at the university.

Nueva Lengua - Universidad de la Sabana is a great place to learn Spanish. Sabana University is an american style University campus (there are language laboratories, sport facilities, modern classrooms and everything is surrounded by green areas. It looks like a natural park to me) There are many opportunities to meet University Students and practice your Spanish at the University. ( theater, concerts, seminars and other kind f cultural events)

The school is fantastic, and I'm so thrilled that I got to be a part of it, that I'm going to thier Cartagena location in a few months! Judging by my wonderful experience in Bogota, I will without a doubt be satisfied. :) The teachers are great at what they do, and I learned more in two weeks with Nueva Lengua than I have in years at the schools here in Los Angeles. BRAVO, Nueva Lengua, we need more schools and teachers like yours!

Overall the instruction is alright. I decided to take the "intensive" Spanish course, which entailed 3 different teachers. Like in anything, the quality of instruction is really based on the teacher. 2 out of the 3 teachers were superb. On the other hand, my grammar teacher was ill on the first day, therefore we had a substitute subsequently. And by the end of the week, we had 3 different teachers - which I believe constituted in a lower quality of instruction. A particular teacher after 2 days still did not know my name (having only 5 people in the group), and instead called me "cabellero." On the whole, nothing great to write home about. It was an alright experience, but compared to my other language schools, a bit of a disappointment.

Overall, a great experience. Great teachers who are fun yet serious about your learning and practicing Spanish. School trips I attended included rafting on the Rio Negro, mina de sal de Nemocón, and the Museo de Oro. The only complaints I heard during my time there were about the accommodations. Not that the school could do much about it , but some people had a hard time dealing with the noise of the city. Bogotá is a big city, so plan accordingly.

I really enjoyed my two weeks at Nueva Lengua in Bogotá. Unfortunately I made last minute arrangements and was not able to be assessed for the most appropriate class level but, I did glean much from the level I was put in. All of the teachers were friendly and easy to understand. If at all possible I would like to return for more instruction.

After studying Spanish for many years in the U.S., I was disappointed in the experience at my first school abroad. I did not receive an incoming or outgoing evaluation. I did not feel I was properly placed and merely reviewed the same instruction I had received in college at home. I enjoyed learning about the Colombian culture but gained very little in respects to learning or improving my Spanish skills.
