Step 1

In Spanish, the verb ser (to be) is used to describe identity, or inherent qualities that include personality, physical appearance, relationships, religion, and profession.

yo soy I am
eres you are
Ud./él/ella es you/he/she is
nosotros/as somos we are
vosotros/as sois you guys are
Uds./ellos/ellas son you all/they are
    Yo soy estudiante.
         I am a student.
    Tú eres inteligente.
         You are smart.
    Él es delgado.
         He is thin.
    Ella es guapa.
         She is good looking.
    Nosotros somos meseros.
         We are waiters.
    Vosotros sois estudiantes.
         You all are students.
    Ellos son meseros.
         They are waiters.
    Ustedes son maestros.
         You all are teachers. (formal)

    Note!
    Ud. (usted) is a formal way of saying you
    Uds. (ustedes) is a formal way of saying you all

    Note!
    Sometimes endings don't change, regardless if you are discussing masculine or feminine.
    Él es inteligente.
     He is intelligent.
    Ella es inteligente.
     She is intelligent.
