Step 1

In Spanish, nouns have gender.
They can be masculine or feminine.
The adjectives usually agree in gender with the nouns they describe.

Masculine vs. Feminine

    Mi abuelo es muy alto.
         My grandfather is very tall.
    Mi maestra es alta.
         My (female) teacher is tall.

    El carro es pequeño.
         The car is small.
    La ventana es pequeña.
         The window is small.

  El muchacho es guapo.
       The boy is handsome.
  La niña es educada.
       The girl is polite.
