Overview

The verb jugar (to play) is irregular, (u) changes to (ue) in the present tense (with the exception of nosotros and vosotros). The verb jugar is the only u:ue stem change verb in the Spanish language. One can clearly see the verb jugar stem change in the congugation of jugar as shown in the table below.

yo juego (I play)
juegas (you play)
Ud./él/ella juega (you/he/she plays)
nosotros (as) jugamos (we play)
vosotros (as) jugáis (you guys play)
Uds./ellos/ ellas juegan (you all/they play)

Yo juego con el perro.
I play with the dog.

Tú juegas con la arena.
You play with the sand.

Él juega en la playa.
He plays on the beach.

Los niños juegan en el agua.
The children play in the water.
