Overview

The verb conocer (to know) is a regular -er verb in the preterite.
We use conocer when we know someone, or personally know a place.

yo conocí I knew
conociste you knew
Ud./él/ella conoc you/he/she knew
nosotros/as conocimos we knew
vosotros/as conocisteis you all knew
Uds./ellos/ellas conocieron you all/they knew

Sí, la conocí bien, fuimos buenos amigos.
      Yes, I knew her well, we were good friends.

¿Ya conociste a mi hermano?
      You already met my brother?

Me conoció en una fiesta.
      She met me at a party.

Por fin conocimos ayer a nuestros vecinos.
      We finally met our neighbors yesterday.

El año pasado conocisteis a mis amigos.
      Last year you guys met my friends.
         (used in Spain)

Hace dos días que conocieron a mi prometida.
      Two days ago they met my fiancée.
